The veneer on this door was very badly damaged. Instead of replacing the entire door I was able to cover up the worst part with some wainscoting I found on the street along with some trim molding, fresh paint and the elmer's glue crackle finish I learned about on the web. It is very difficult to mount anything on these kinds of doors so I had to anchor these hooks properly. They used to fall out all of the time.
I made this book / magazine rack out of a shipping pallet.
This is an old light my folks found in their house. It used to be a complete ceiling fixture. I took out the old socket and made it into a canopy which conveniently slid right over the existing fixture with enough room for a fancy retro bulb. I didn't even need to fasten it! As with all the junction boxes in the entire apartment I had to shore up the significant gaps left by whoever unskillfully hung the ceiling.
There was a pretty jagged hole in the tile around the valve that I filled and then conceled. I made this cover plate out of tin from a soup can.
